• Autarchic Model

  • Private equity investment.
  • Focusing on the creation of new export sectors of great potential.
  • The companies created had a high degree of innovation.
  • FCh used internal capacities for company building, given the limited momentum of innovation in existing markets.
  • These companies were then sold to big corporations, recovering the initial investment, thus promoting the creation of a new economic sector.
  • This model created 33 companies.

• Partnership-based Model

  • Change promoted by a more varied innovation system and with new promotion instruments.
  • Begins to incorporate partners into the companies created, allowing to lower the risks of investment as well as monitoring costs.
  • This partnership strategy involved partners and entrepreneurs in both the investment and development.
  • 26 companies were created.
  • The foundations to move into the next stage are laid with the creation of the Angel Investors Network ChileGlobal Angels (2008) and its subsequent EmprendeFCh Entrepreneurship Platform (2011).

• Creation of the Angel Investors Network ChileGlobal Angels

  One of the most active networks of angel investors in Latin America and the longest-running in Chile. It operates under the smart money concept, offering not only capital but also the experience of investors for more mature companies or at a scaling stage.

• Limited Risk-Based Model and Development of an Enabling Platform

  • The value of Fundación Chile was not in the capital that could be invested, but in the use of its capabilities to reduce risks due to asymmetries of access, power, links and information.
  • The model was based on alliances with outsiders, either venture capitalists or entrepreneurs, managing to create six high-impact companies.
  • The above led entrepreneurs to approach the institution in search of support, thus the EmprendeFCh Platform was created to assists start-ups at an early stage, using their experience in venture capital to expand, under a new model, the number of initiatives developed.

• Creation of Business Accelerator EmprendeFCh

  Entity to support startups which through financing and an acceleration program provides connections, mentoring, knowledge, resources and support to help companies reach the next level.

• Corporate Area

  Develops open innovation projects for large companies, allowing to solve the challenges of the productive sector, linking the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem with the know-how of Fundación Chile.

• Mentor Network

  Network of experienced professionals in different industries or relevant topics in entrepreneurship that support startups in their growth process.

• Clin Fund

  Earlier in 2018 ChileGlobal Ventures, Fundación Chile’s venture capital platform, launched its second investment fund, along with major contributors: Corfo, Entel, Zoma Capital, Engie Factory and Fundación Chile. CLIN focuses on the major challenges that Chile faces in terms of sustainability and productivity, sectors where Fundación Chile and its contributors are referents – particularly in the areas of energy, water, mining, smart cities, big data and Internet of Things (IoT).

  Consolidation of all the initiatives around the venture capital of Fundación Chile: Business Accelerator, Angel Investors Network, Private Equity Funds Administrator and Corporate Open Innovation.
