Nowadays, 69% of farmers do not know what their costs and profits are, which means that their businesses are constantly at risk because they cannot make harvest estimates or evaluate seasonality based on figures. In Chile there are more than 300,000 farmers. According to data from ODEPA, 20% of these account for medium-sized agriculture, which could total more than two million farmers in Latin America (according to FAO).
